I've been hearing great things about Eden Bodyworks. While perusing Sally's Beauty Supply, I noticed that not only does Sally's carry the line, but it's on sale this month. I thought this was a great time to give them a try and share a new review. The opinions expressed in the following review are my own. The products being reviewed were purchased by me and I have received no compensation for this review to date.
I went to Sally's to pick up a deep conditioner. I generally use Bee Mine but it is protein free and I wanted to see how my hair would respond to a protein rich treatment. I put that idea on the back burners when I saw Eden Bodyworks. The products are reasonably priced and the ingredients look good. I purchased the deep conditioner and the All Natural Pudding.
I wanted to make sure I didn't have any product build up that would interfere with the conditioner's ability to penetrate the hair so I used a clarifying shampoo. Then I applied the hair masque on clean damp hair as directed. The product is thick and creamy. I liked the consistency but it did make distribution a little challenging.
I bagged my hair and left the conditioner on for about 30 minutes. When I went to wash it out it didn't seem any softer or easier to detangle. After rinsing it completely, my hair was left feeling stripped and icky. I had to follow up with Bee Mine Beeutiful deep conditioner.
I don't fault the product completely. Clarifying shampoo might not have been the best idea. Also I would have preferred to use only Eden Bodyworks products since some lines just don't work well together but I was not springing for all of the full size products. I'll have to see if they have trial sizes or samples on their website.
The other product I tried was the pudding. It has a thick creamy consistently and a lite pleasant scent. It went on well and seemed to absorb easily. It provided an ok amount of slip and detangling but not the best. I used it with two strand twists. They were shiny but as they dried they became a little hard. When I took them down in the morning my hair felt a little waxy.
I also tried the pudding on the middle curly to refresh her three day old braids. This is where this products shines for me! It absorbed and moisturized well and gave her hair great shine as well as hang time. I took down her braids, misted with water, applied the pudding and brushed it with the Denman brush then a boat bristle and twisted it back up. It worked great and still looked good at the end of the day. I left the two front sections down. They looked a little dull by the end of the day. It will be a keeper for braids and twists though.
